Here's a tip: just be yourself, but more so
There’s a new video up at Gametrailers showing some dev-made footage from the upcoming MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Vengence, or Reckoning, or something appropriately moody.
I’m not a big MMO guy. I played Ultima Online and enjoyed it quite a bit. Then I played Everquest, which I liked even more. Besides some dabbling in DAoC and others, I stopped playing MMOs until WoW, which I played up to about level 40 and quit. The point being, I’m not salivating over any MMOs currently on the horizon. However, I’m willing to give Warhammer a shot because I think the setting might lend itself well to the genre. After all, WoW stole Warhammer’s setting and I hear it’s pretty successful.
This new video does not impress.
If you’re going to release a video for your game, make it exciting, you know? Or at least let it show off some positive characteristics. This one makes Warhammer look like a bland WoW retread, which is probably not a wholely accurate representation. It also shows a lot of typical, weightless MMO combat. That stuff is more boring to watch than the last Superman movie. Or early-season baseball.
